So allot has happened over the last week to say the least, setting the stage for an exciting off-season! With all this positive news I updated my 3 mock draft options, with some shake-up in each option.

So check out the updated Option 1 below.

With the 8th pick in round 1 the Vikings select:

QB - Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M - 6'1" 200lbs.

A two-year starter, Manziel completed 69 percent of his passes in 2013 for 3,732 yards with 33 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He ran for 846 yards (686 net) with eight scores. Manziel was a 2013 All-SEC First Team selection at QB.

I picked "Johnny Football" in my last option 1, and he still remains as my optomistic "QB in round 1" pick, however with this weeks updated draft stock, he'll most likely be gone by our #8 pick, but you never know! Today he's the best QB that matches both the value of our #8 pick (according to player top 100 rankings) as well as filling an obvious need. If he's gone and Rick and Mike still plan to grab a QB in round 1, then it looks like Bortles and Carr would be the next in line. In my opinion, if we miss on Johnny then I think we should grab an elite defensive player in Round 1.

With the 8th pick in Round 2 (40th overall), the Vikings select:

DT - Ego Ferguson, LSU - 6'3" 308lbs.

In 2013 Ferguson finished fifth on the team with 58 total tackles, and he produced 3.5 tackles for a loss and one sack. He recieved a 2013 Associated Press All-SEC Honorable Mention. He is a big bodied high speed run stuffer up the middle.

With the 8th pick in Round 3 (72nd overall), the Vikings select:

OLB – Jeremiah Attaochu, Georgia Tech - 6’2" 240lbs.

In 2013, Attaochu totaled 45 tackles with 16 tackles for a loss, two passes batted and 12.5 sacks. He was also selected to the 2013 All-ACC First Team (COACHES).

ROUND 3 (2nd pick in Round 3)

With the 32nd pick in Round 3 (96th overall - Seahawks pick gained from the 2013 Percy Harvin trade), the Vikings select:

ILB – Chris Borland, Wisconsin - 5'11 242lbs.

In 2013 Borland totaled 112 tackles with 8.5 tackles for a loss, two passes broken up, two forced fumbles and four sacks. Borland recieved multiple awards including 2013 All-Big Ten (Coaches and Media); the 2013 Big Ten Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year; and the 2013 Big Ten Nagurski-Woodson Defensive Player of the year.

With the 8th pick in Round 4 (104th overall), the Vikings select:

CB - Pierre Desir, Lindenwood - 6’1" 205lbs.

A four year starter, in 2013 Desir totaled 33 tackles, one tackle for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and four interceptions. He recieved multiple awards in 2013 including AFCA Division II Coaches All-America Team; Associated Press Little All-American First Team; and the Cliff Harris Award Winner (Small College Defensive Player of the Year).

With the 8th pick in Round 5 (136th overall), the Vikings select:

OG – Dakota Dozier, Furman - 6'4" 302lbs.

A four year starter, Dozier has good size and athleticism. He recieved multiple awards including 2013 Associated Press FCS First Team All-American; AFCA FCS Coaches All-American Team; Walter Camp All-American Team; and the Southern Conference Jacobs Blocking Award (Coaches).

With the 8th pick in Round 6 (168th overall), the Vikings select:

DE – Ben Gardner, Stanford - 6'4" 275lbs.

A three year starter, Gardner was playing well in 2013 before a torn pectoral muscle ended his season. The injury is not major and he is slated to have a full recovery and be ready for the combines and pro-day. Prior to the injury Gardner totaled 19 tackles, 7.5 tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks, and a forced fumble. In 2012 he totaled 49 tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss, 7.5 sacks, five passes batted and a forced fumble. Even though Gardner only played in 8 games in 2013 he was selected to the All-PAC-12 First Team (Coaches).

With the 8th pick in Round 7 (200th overall), the Vikings select:

SS - Hakeem Smith, Louisville - 6’2" 179lbs. A four year starter, Smith totalled 42 tackles, four passes broken up and three interceptions in 2013. Smith was a four year selection to he All-American Athletic Conference First Team.

So that's my updated Mock Draft Option 1, showing us taking a QB in Round 1.

Stay tuned for my updated Options two and three, showing us taking QB's in the second and third rounds respectively.
