Like every other Vikings fan in Vikings Nation, I think the Vikings might have gotten something right with the Mike Zimmer hire. Mike Zimmer is going to fix a lot of our defensive problems and eventually turn it into one of the best units in the entire NFL. One thing that really is intriguing though is the fact that Mike Zimmer hired Norv Turner as his OC.
In my opinion (trying not to be biased) Norv Turner is one of the best offensive minds in the NFL today. In Cleveland he took Josh Gordon and turned him into one of the top WR's in the NFL. Gordon went on and lead the NFL in receiving yardage (+1,600) while doing it with Viking quality QB's like Brandon Weeden, Jason Campbell and Brian Hoyer. Now I don't know about you, but I think that is pretty impressive for the CLEVELAND BROWNS! So here is the question: What would Norv Turner be able to do with an offense that has Adrian Peterson, Cordarrelle Patterson, Greg Jennings, Kyle Rudolph and Johnny "Ice cream" Manziel?
I believe that a Turner-Manziel combo on offense could be pretty darn impressive. Good play calling+great QB+good defense= Super Bowl team. It's as simple as that. I know that Mike Zimmer is defensively-minded and probably has a great plan in store for the defense. But I think that even he knows that without a franchise QB your team isn't going anywhere, no matter how good the defense is. Just take a look at the Bengals. Not even a great defense can win you the big one when you have a Ponder clone (Andy Dalton) on offense as your QB.
Don't worry Manziel haters. When we win it all in 5 years with Manziel as our QB NO ONE will be hating good ol' Ice Cream Manziel (except for the Pee Ackers, which is kind of what we all want)!
