Zimmer Hire and Mock draft ver. 3

Its Championship week guys and gals and lets hear who you would like to see in the SB? This was a busy week for the vikes with the hire of Mike Zimmer and Norv Turner for HC and OC. I really like the Zimmer hire as his Defenses have been ranked in the top 10 the last 4 years and gets the most out of his players. I'm really looking forward for the offseason and combine and pro days and free agency to see where the prospects fall. If you have read any of my previous posts I stand by that the Vikings will sign one of theses CB's

Aquilb Talib

Alterran Verner

Vontae Davis

Also to continue the secondary overall we will get one of these top safeties in FA

T.J. Ward

Jarius Bryd

Laron Landry

Now to the draft and again I rate my own prospects. I use Phil Steeles college football preview as a guide and its a good read to any football fan

1st. Sammy Watkins, WR, Clemson- I stayed with the Watkins pick as I did in my last mock. All three top QB's Bridgewater, Manziel and Bortles are gone at this point. With Turner as OC you can expect to see a more vertical Offense and with Watkins as the BPA this is a pick Spielman wont be able to pass on

2. Derek Carr, QB, Fresno State- This is the spot you take Carr as he will need to really improve his footwork and mechanics. The senior bowl will really see how he has progressed, and by the time the combine and pro days are over we will get a more accurate grade on him but for now he says outside the 1st round

3A. Will Sutton, DT, Arizona St- Sutton had a falloff this season, He lacked the drive and the motor that many had projected him as a 1st rounder his season. This has a Zimmer pick written all over when you take into consideration that Zimmer and Lewis took a chance on Burflict a few years ago and made him one of the NFL's best young LB's. I think he could regain that drive that he showed in 2012 and really show scouts his playmaking ability

3B. Anthony Steen, OG, Alabama- Steen was the unknown starter on a Alabama line that will likely have another OT in Cyrus Koundjiio going in the 1st round this year. And, by no means does this make Steen a bust I think he makes a solid G in the NFL. Steen has good footwork and has the ability to get to the 2nd level, and is athletic enough to pull on a lead block and get to a LB. I believe where Steen will be drafted he will be more of a rotational player now with Baca in the wings and Fusco coming off a good year

4. De'Anthony Thomas, RB, Oregon- This is probably to late for Thomas considering his speed and playmaking ability will make him go higher in the draft. He is a change of pace back that like AD is a home run threat when he toaches the ball and is versatile in the PR/KR game. I like him here as well because of Carr's ability to throw in the screen game and behind the line of scrimmage these are Carr's strengths. Anthony with Watkins and Patterson along with Peterson and Jennings is shaping up to be a good offense

5. Gabe Ikard, C, Oklahoma- Ikard is already being pegged to have a rise on draft boards similar to what Lane Johnson did last year for the Sooners. IMO Ikard will be drafted as depth which he can play either OG, C and could eventually unseat Sullivan as the starting Center

6. James Morris, LB, Iowa- Morris has been a consistent player on a Iowa defense that consistently puts good players into the NFL. He has led the team in tackles the last 2 seasons and has very good intangibles and instincts. Reminds me of Pat Angerer and can either compete for the starting MLB or ST player

7. Joey Searcy III, DT, Angelo St-More of a practice squad player/ developmental player. but at 6'1 335lb another DT never hurts

Lets hear your opinions, and remember if you comment be ready to back up your comments because I will do the same with my responses thanks again for reading
