So allot has happened over the last week to say the least, setting the stage for an exciting off-season! With all this positive news I updated my 3 mock draft options, with some shake-up in each option.

So check out the updated Option 2 below.

With the 8th pick in round 1 the Vikings select:

ILB - C.J. Mosley, Alabama - 6’2” 232lbs.

A 2 1/2 year starter, in 2013 he had 102 tackles and 9 tackles for loss, 5 pass breakups, 8 quarterback hurries and a forced fumble. He was the Alabama Defensive Player of the week 11 times in 12 games and ranks fourth in school history with 313 tackles. Mosley recieved many awards in 2013 including the Walter Camp First Team All-American; Associated Press and Coaches All-SEC First Team; SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Year (Coaches); and the Butkus Award Winner.

With the 8th pick in Round 2 (40th overall), the Vikings select:

QB - Jimmy Garoppolo, Eastern Illinois - 6'2" 222lbs.

A three and a half year starter, Garoppolo threw for 5,050 yards with 53 touchdown passes and nine interceptions in 568 attempts while completing 66 percent of his passes in 2013. He recorded 11 games with 300-plus yards and 5 games with 400-plus yards; threw multiple touchdowns in 13 of 14 games, including 10 games with 3 or more TD passes. Garoppolo recieved several awards in 2013 including the Associated Press, Coaches, and Walter Camp FCS First Team All-American; the FCS Athletic Directors Association OVC Offensive Player of the Year; and the 2013 Walter Payton Award Winner.

With the 8th pick in Round 3 (72nd overall), the Vikings select:

CB - E.J. Gaines, Missouri - 5’10” 190lbs.

A three year starter, in 2013 Gaines totalled 68 tackles with four interceptions and two passes defended. Gaines was selected to the 2013 All-SEC First Team at CB.

ROUND 3 (2nd pick in Round 3)

With the 32nd pick in Round 3 (96th overall - Seahawks pick gained from the 2013 Percy Harvin trade), the Vikings select:

DT - Daniel McCullers, Tennessee - 6’6" 377lbs.

A three year starter and big presence in the middle, in 2013 McCullers totalled 33 tackles with 4.5 tackles for a loss, one pass batted and .5 sacks.

I know fans have mixed opinions regarding McCullers skill set, but in this Mock at the 96th pick, his overall current draft rankings show that he's a good value pick at this point. However there's a few other DT's that are ranking around this pick that we could go with as well. They don't offer his size but they grade out well on skill set. Given that this additional 3rd round pick is a "bonus pick" per se, I'd be willing to take a chance on McCullers to see if he could increase his skill set at the next level. Because if he can he'd be a large force up the middle.

With the 8th pick in Round 4 (104th overall), the Vikings select:

OG - Ryan Groy, Wisconsin - 6'5" 318lbs.

Groy is a solid 2 year starter who was selected to the 2013 All-Big 10 First Team at OG.

With the 8th pick in Round 5 (136th overall), the Vikings select:

SS – Isaiah Lewis, Michigan State - 5'10" 208lbs.

A three year starter, Lewis had 54 tackles, two interceptions and eight passes batted. Lewis was selected to the 2013 All-Big 10 First Team at SS.

With the 8th pick in Round 6 (168th overall), the Vikings select:

DE - Taylor Hart, Oregon - 6'5" 292lbs.

A three year starter, in 2013 Hart had 75 tackles, six tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks. He was also selected to the 2013 All-Pac 12 Second Team at DE.

With the 8th pick in Round 7 (200th overall), the Vikings select:

OLB - Jonathan Brown, Illinois - 6’1” 235lbs.

A three year starter, in his senior season he led the team and ranked second in the conference in tackles with 119, and ranked third in the Big Ten with 15.0 tackles for loss. He also added 5.0 sacks, four pass breakups, one interception and one forced fumble on the season. Brown also earned 2013 All-Big Ten Honorable Mention (Coaches) and 2013 All-Big Ten Second Team (MEDIA).
