Josh McCown set to be FA

Title is pretty self explanatory. I personally feel we will get defensive back help AT LEAST in free agency, but with needing to add young depth there, plus linebacker and line needs(especially NT and hopefully they re-sign Griffen) and that just being on the defensive side of the ball, I am with many fans who think with the lack of guaranteed franchise qbs in this draft that we should use a second or third round pick on a project and pick a impact defender with our first pick (unless we trade down which I am also in favor of). This way we shore up our d which was clearly the weak link. The offense was ranked mid pack with a predictable, boring, uncreative coordinator. That will change next year, and I expect Turner to really get creative. That said, even though Cassell played OK, his stats are really not much better than ponder, who was terrible. Josh McCown, however, threw 13 tds to 1 int with a qb rating over 100. And he was getting minimum pay from Chicago, who can't offer him a contract til he fields other offers. One downside is he is 34. But Manning is 37 and I think with having the sixth best O line this year I think we can protect him well, which will help. I'm thinking a two year contract, in which he can mentor the young prospect and even possibly(based on the level of play this year) could lead us to favre like results. And let's be honest, no vikings fan wouldn't welcome that right about now. What are your thoughts fellow vikings fans? BTW this is my first post but I love the knowledge and perspective this site offers!
