2 Different Mocks

Now first, before the commenting hate train starts let me get this all out there. I have non stop been hearing about how Derek Carr is the best fit for the Vikings. Even from Arif who I know is most of us' favorite guy to listen too, that guy actually does his homework before he writes an article unlike some other writers at *cough* cough* Bleacher Report. So I've done a rediculous of digging, to the points its really embaressing for a guy who does not get paid to learn this stuff or has any influence on the draft to dig. Let me make this clear also, I went into it as unbiased as possible since in the past I've been very skepitical as a guy who has outright trashed Carr on other articles. I've watched his USC, Utah State, San Jose State, New Mexico, Nevada, Wyoming, San Diego State, Cal Poly, Boise State and Rutger games from this season. I watched his Oregon and SMU games from last season and his game against Ole' Miss from 2011. I watched all of this weeks practices for the Senior Bowl (even though that meant little to me considering how well he can throw it with no pressure) and the actual Senior Bowl. Read up again on all of Buck Brooks' College QB Ranking articles this season from NFL.com where he would write about the top QBs and rank them from week to week. Listened to alot of podcasts and radio bits. Just a butt load of digging. After doing all this I won't admit I was wrong about him in general, but he is not nearly as unpoised in the pocket as before thought. He also can be seen taking snaps from under center from his 2011, that came as a shock to me. But back to the pocket, there are several games where he does very well faced with pressure compared to others. Like the New Mexico game, he had a couple of plays in that game where he was very impressive with defenders right in his face grabbing at him. Also you can notice in the games where he doesn't handle pressure well he doesn't just completely bail from the pocket, so he's clearly not as much of a scaredy as alot of us thought. He just does the opposite of climb the ladder at those times and starts backing up too soon and lets his mechanics go to s*** causing his throwing to then get erratic. Considering his protection was very inconsistent and his RBs just about never were apart of any packages its really not a shocker. But ofcourse don't take my word for it, watch some film on Draftbreakdown.com (they should be paying me for advertisement at this point) and heres an article trying to use stats and stuff to point out he doesn't have worriesome pocket problems like Blaine Gabbert, the now cliche draft bust pocket pu**y http://www.draftmecca.com/newslink.php?id=51

Now I also heard from Paul Allen that a couple of his nifty trustworthy NFL sources say Derek Carr or Zach Mettenberger are the QBs in this draft that fit what Minnesota needs and would be the mostly likely to excel there.. Also that our next QB is going to be taken in the 1st or 2nd, and that Derek Carr is a top 15 pick despite anything the media says. So thats what I'm basing these mocks on. I'm not saying those are my two favorite guys, my favorite guys are whoever the hell is going to help us win some games and help me not smash so many cell phones, beer bottles, etc. on Sundays. Now along with this info for my mock I'm going to say we let the usual cast walk but we resign Everson Griffen and pick up Alterraun Verner. So thats why I go without a CB in these mocks. K?

Draft #1

1. Derek Carr, QB
2. Shayne Skov, MLB
3. Da'Quan Jones, NT
3. De' Anthony Thomas, WR
4. Anthony Steen, G
5. L'Damian Washington, WR
6. Hakeem Smith, SS
7. Andrew Jackson, LB

Now with this mock was with the assumption they take Derek Carr in the 1st. Some people may wonder about taking Thomas with a third, Washington with the fifth and Jackson with the seventh but heres why I chose them: While Patterson does figure to be a deep threat someday as of right now he's not really even close, and with Norv Turner running the show on offense and the Tampa 2 disappearing you can expect him to run alot of Bang 8. L'Damian Washington once he cleans up his route running a bit would be alot more suited to be at the receiving end of the Bang 8, He's a long striding straight line speedster whos 6'5 with very good body control and can really fight for the ball. De'Anthony Thomas I look at as kinda mini CP, he's a WR/RB that can do it all and is extremely electric. Minnesotas offense was fortunate to be a top 10 team when it came to explosive plays, keep it up and we might become impossible to defend. The Andrew Jackson pick is alot simpler to explain, he's a vicious hitting underrated LB that steps up his game against top competition. Check out his game against Alabama.

Draft #2

1. C.J. Mosely, MLB
2. Zach Mettenberger, QB
3. Ahmad Dixon, SS
3. Daniel McCullers, NT
4. Anthony Steen, G
5. L'Damian Washington, WR
6. Ben Gardner, DE
7. Andrew Jackson, LB

All I gotta say about this mock is, supposedly if we grab Mettenberger we grab him in the 2nd. A number of other teams including the Texans supposedly are wide eyed checking him out. We just would need to worry about all the booger picking GIFs from Packer fans if we take him.
