Can't really understand all the hatred of Roger Goodell.
It seems as if his position, role and actual power has been completely missed.
- The NFL consists of 32 different teams with 32 different owners (yes, I know about the Packers, but let's just forget about them for at least another 6 months, please).
- The Commissioner is the highest executive position in the league and is elected by the league's clubs.
- What the Commissioner can do and what the Commissioner can't do depends on the constitution and the rules of the league, determined by the league.
So, how can people believe Goodell can do as he wants to, and if so would be allowed to continue to do as he wants to if the league, with its owners, didn't approve?
Maybe something about not being able to see the wood for the trees, or rather not being able to see the wood for one tree. And that's probably exactly what the league, with its owners, want us to see.
Goodell is steering the ship the owners decides speed, course and destination for.
