The Vikings currently hold the stinky 8th overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft with a record of 5-10-1. Now don't get me wrong, it's a workable pick that we could trade up with. But the problem is that the Vikings are going to have to give up some valuable picks in order to trade up and get Johnny Manziel (that's right, I'm biased). IF the Vikings would have tanked and, say ended up 2-13-1, they would have the 3rd overall pick and might only have to trade up one pick to get the QB that the Vikings wanted. And that would have been a similar scenario when the Vikings traded back one pick with the Browns in 2012 so that they could get Trent Richardson (who now looks like the modern version of Herschal Walker in Indy). Sure, it would have made the season A LOT less bearable, but we would have better picks with a better chance of getting better players. Dang, that 3rd overall pick sounds pretty nice right now, doesn't it?
