Today I woke up to an article in my bleacher report feed from Patriots.com. It mentioned how mallet could be a potential target for the vikes, based on espns Ben goesslings article on how the vikings could address the qb situation. Here's another one I found as well: http://fansided.com/2014/02/13/nfl-trade-rumors-minnesota-vikings-ryan-mallet-trade/
I must admit I didn't know much about mallet before he became a hot topic here on DN but it seems he would fit Norvs offense very well, he has learned from one of the games best for a few years, and with one year left on his contact and bradys end not coming for potentially five more years, I have to think the Patriots wouldn't mind letting him go and picking up another understudy in the coming years. Goessling mentioned a third rounder as possible value. While I am one of those who agree with arif on Carr being a good fit for us, if we could get a similar quarterback with a few advantages over Carr(experience) with less compensation on our part, I wouldn't be opposed to it. I still think we should get a bridge veteran in case he takes some time adjusting to the new scheme. But overall it is an intriguing option. I also think a few years to mature with bilicheck have resolved the off field issues many were concerned with coming out of college. I also read somewhere that the vikings liked mallet before they picked ponder, and if you add that to the recent trade history the vikes have had with the pats, it seems like an option spielman, zimmer, and Turner will look into. What's your opinion?
