As fans we all get excited and give our thoughts on what the team should do, not do, or hypothetically what we would like to see. I think it is safe to assume we all want a QBOTF. The thing is, we keep tossing around names like Manziel (exciting, but not worth a high pick in terms of NFL productivity IMO) , Bortles (same), and especially Carr, who I think will be like his brother and not pan out, strong arm or not. Slick Rick is for sure at times egocentric, confounding, lost, and even at times right on the money, but I just cannot imagine him willing to take a shot on these QB's if his career is hanging on it. He is just too conservative to play that game.
Soooo...we go defense defense defense, give Zimmer the ability to stack up players he see's fit, address our needs at LB, DL, CB, and maybe even OL, and if a decent QB falls to us in late rounds, we grab him at a low risk . The Mallett talk is heating up, but I fear we have at times been Belichick's bitch on some of these previous trades, and I hope we do not give up high picks to grab him. Ol' Bill would be a nasty card player for sure, making everyone believe since he is such a great coach, his guy is surly worth a #1 or a few #2's, when he has only thrown 4 passes in his career. Will Rick take the bait???
Bridgewater is the only guy who is NFL ready, I would take a chance on him. Maybe Norv can pull off the miracle of a lifetime and make Happy Feet Ponder serviceable enough to where our defense controls the game and he is not needed to be a superhero until we get a chance to pick a real stud, not question mark guys like Carr, Manziel, Bortles, etc on a high pick. If Rick does pick any of those guys, expect to see a vacancy at the GM spot soon.
