So for the Vikings 1st round pick, most people believe that it will come down to an elite defensive talent or a quarterback. But what if the first 7 picks play out this way:
Houston Texans: Jadeveon Clowney, DE, South Carolina
St. Louis Rams: Jake Mathews, OT, Texas A&M OR Greg Robinson, OT, Auburn
Jacksonville Jaguars: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Lousiville
Cleveland Browns: Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M
Oakland Raiders: Blake Bortles, QB, UCF
Atlanta Falcons: Khalil Mack, DE/OLB, Buffalo
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Whichever of the tackles (Robinson or Mathews) is left
Rick is sitting there in the war room thinking "Oh sh*t. All the qbs are gone. Justin Gilbert, CJ Mosley, and Anthony Barr are all kind of reaches here. And I am sure as hell not staking my job on Derek Carr. What do I do??"
I'll tell you what to do Rick. DRAFT SAMMY WATKINS!!!! The guy is the next AJ Green. Or Julio Jones. Depending on who you ask. But everyone agrees, the guy will be a STAR. He ran a 4.45 40, and had elite performances in the 3 cone, broad jump, high jump etc. He's a good route runner, and, similar to our very own Cordarelle Patterson, can take a screen to the house at any time.
Now imagine being a quarterback in an offense with Watkins, Patterson, Jennings, Rudolph, and oh-ya-the-best-running-back-in-the-league Adrian Peterson. And a top 10 o-line in a division in which, frankly, the defenses (unless chicago rebounds) don't really scare me. Hell, I could throw for 3,000 yards in that offense.
