Derek Carr

I'm a Minnesota Viking fan and I am a Fresno, Ca resident (born and raised). Viking fans are rare around here but we are sprinkled here and there. As so was I sprinkled proud in my purple as I attended Fresno State's pro day this last Thursday. As you may have heard Norv Turner and Rick Spielman were in attendance and they seemed to be very interested in Derek Carr. They had two long talks with Derek Carr. These talks took place before and after the workout. As you may have possibly heard the workout went great. So great that I don't see Derek Carr being there for the Vikings in the second round as I personally had hoped for.

Derek Carr made all of his throws, looked athletic and quite possibly couldn't have had a better workout. His post workout buzz to me has been underwhelming as the media presence was lacking (I mean did I mention it was in Fresno, Ca). From what I saw the only national media presence was the NFL network and they seemed only interested in getting footage. I was anticipating a football commentator to be in attendance (Trent Dillfer) but I didn't see any. But hey Derek Carr is a projected 2nd rounder. If a commentator was to be in attendance he/ she would have endorsed Derek Carr and his draft stock would definitely would have gone up. So what does this mean about I think about the draft?

I really have no idea but I am going to make some assumptions. First I feel this in Norv Turner's call on which QB is going to drafted. Second, if Norv likes Derek Carr then he will be drafted in the first round by the Vikings. If that means they trade down a little bit or snag him at pick 8 the trigger will be pulled on Derek Carr if Norv likes him. I just don't see him being there in the second round for the Vikings. He has the best arm in the draft (with the exception of maybe Logan Thomas but who cares about him). The Raider's Gm Reggie McKenzie was in attendance and believe me the only reason why you would want to come to Fresno if you are a Gm is if you are absolutely are considering picking up your franchise quarterback with one of your top draft picks. So I don't see Derek Carr getting past the Raiders twice before the Vikings can select him in the 2nd round. So I guess we must wait and see.
