Darren Sproles traded to Eagles for a bag of peanuts!

Darren Sproles was born in Waterloo, Iowa on June 20th, 1983 which will make him 30 years old and it looks like the fire sale in aint's land is going to include Sproles. Sproles hauled in 71 passes for 604 yards and two TD's in 2013. Sproles had 53 rushing attempts for 220 yards. Would he be a good fit in Norv Turner's offense if Toby Gerhart isn't in the master plan? Sproles was due to make 3.4 million and that looks like the big reason the ain'ts* will release him if they can't entice a team into trading for him.

He was a fourth round draft pick for the Chargers in the 2005 NFL Draft. Sproles was named to the 50th Anniversary Team as a kick returner. He has spent five seasons with the Chargers and 3 with the aint's. He has played in 122 games with 437 rushing attempts and amassed 2,221 total rushing yards. In the passing game Sproles has 378 catches for 3,381 yards. He has 1606 punt return yards and amassed 8,296 kick return yards in his career.

Norv Turner has worked with Sproles and understands the versatility he can bring as a third down pass catching back. He would be a backup on punts and kickoffs. It would appear he would be a depth signing and would be in the area of the veteran minimum which would be $810,000 plus any bonuses and guaranteed money worked into a deal.

Will he bring enough to the field on third down passing plays? It would depend on our QB but his numbers are better than Simpsons and I think he may just fill a spot on the team. His skill set is different than Petersons and newly signed Matt Asiata. He is short at 5' 6" but has proven he can play the game at an elite level. What do you think about signing Sproles?
