Monopoly Mock -- COME PLAY!!

Skolopoly2_medium

Now just imagine Zygi as the Monopoly Guy...

--

I did this last year and it was a lot of fun, so here we go again. Welcome to...

SKOLOPOLY...!!

--

I divided up the usual suspects into Monopoly properties -- your job is to pick one grouping as your preferred 'mock' of prospects.

A few things before we begin:

1) I did my best to make it as objective as possible -- in other words, personally, I would be cool with any of these groupings.

2) I included almost all of the top prospects at positions of need, namely QB and LB, and to a lesser extent OL and DB -- so you won't see guys like Clowney here.

3) This is meant to be a fun and interactive exercise -- odds are your favorite guys aren't paired together, so think about which grouping you'd rather end up with, instead of lamenting on stuff like, "you should have had so-and-so with such-and-such".

Ready?? Let's go!!

You take a strong LB prospect in Barr in the 1st rd; and as Garoppolo's stock rises, you trade up to the end of the 1st in classic Spielman fashion to nab him before any of the other QB-hungry teams have a chance. A reach for our QBOTF?? Perhaps. But you'll be the last man laughing when Jimmy is hoisting the Lombardi Trophy.

You trade back from #8 and acquire an extra 2nd rdr. You draft a stout Will-backer in Shazier in the 1st, and by sheer luck SS Jimmie Ward falls in your lap at #40 (good for you, he'll beat Sanford for the starting job in camp!!). You use the extra 2nd rdr you acquired to draft Mettenberger, who will sit behind Cassel for a decent portion of the season. Just keep him away from Minneapolis bartenders.

Bortles falls to #8 -- you draft him without thinking twice. You go SS in the 2nd rd with the hard-hitting Bucannon, and continue building a deep secondary with SJB in the 3rd. No trading up or down?? You crazy...

Check this -- you trade up to draft... NOT A QB?? That's right, you trade up for possibly the safest and deadliest player in the draft -- RETURN OF THE MACK, BABY. Downside is, there's a run on QBs and you play it safe with your next pick with a rising CB in Fuller. You take Savage on Day 3, cross your fingers and hope he can develop into a viable starter. But hey, that defense is looking stout, yo.

You trade back, acquiring more picks. And what's this?? OGs got tha flavor -- you decide you want to build the best OLine in the NFC. Way to think outside the box!! You come back with a safe pick in Van Noy, and a winning QB in McCarron. Solid. Boring, but damn solid.

Carr is turning a lot of heads -- including yours. He may even win the starting job out of the gate. You surprise more than a few people with Telvin Smith at #40, but he'll thrive on the weakside under Zimmer. Finally, small-school standout Desir will develop behind our starting CBs and be a stud a couple seasons down the road. Very cool.

Mosley can play inside or outside, and Gabe Jackson is one of the better Guard prospects in the draft. But all the good QBs are off the board, so you take a HUGE roll of the dice on Boyd to develop while holding a clipboard. Hey, apparently NORV is 'intrigued' by him...

You didn't have to "$#!^ the beddy for Teddy", he falls to you at #8. You then trade up at the beginning of Day 2 when Yankey is still on the board, securing a plug-and-play Left Guard.

Now you gone and done it... you mortgage the future and trade up to #2 on the day of the draft when the Texans draft Clowney as the first overall pick -- you just can't let Johnny Football drop to another team. Problem is, you had to give up #40 and #72 to do it. That's OK, exciting times are ahead. But we can't let you go home with just one prospect... take your choice of a Railroad. Sure, they aren't necessarily positions of need, but they're a few of my favorites anyway.

That's all folks -- let us know which direction you went with in the comments!!
