2012 - Childs, WR, 4th round, since released due to recurrence of same patella type injuries
2013 - Mauti, ILB, 7th, ACL both knees, contribution TBD but what little we saw of him on D in 2013 was instinctive and competent
2014 - Exum, CB, 6th, Achilles tear, contribution TBD, expected to compete for Safety once he gets his bearings
Interesting non-picks, 2014:
- Mosley, ILB
- Murray, QB
- Mettenberger, QB
As for the QBs, maybe The Sugarman Effect never came into play because the extent of injuries to QBs available much later in this draft became moot once Bridgewater became available to the Purple at 1.32 again. But Mosley was nixed by the Purple's training staff (I read somewhere, maybe on this site; true? Share if you know for certain yay or nay, but for this we are assuming a 4F to have been his physical assessment by Sugarman et al) and his unavailability may have forced the Vikes to go for Barr now. If Mosley had been available to the Vikes maybe Spielman trades down to 1.12 or 1.13 to get his 10 picks without having to trade down later, exploiting markets/bidders for Ebron and/or others taken in the 1.10-1.15 range.
In any event it will be interesting to see if the Vikes can extract real value from lower round picks passed on for health reasons by every team in the league.
