So, now that the draft is wrapped up and the UDFAs are signed, we are starting to get an idea what the 2014 Vikings roster will look like. I have a whole bunch of questions, but one jumps out: what do the linebackers look like?
As I see it, the relevant players are: Anthony Barr, Chad Greenway,
Marvin Mitchell, Jasper Brinkley, Michael Mauti, Audie Cole, Gerald Hodges. I am not considering Larry Dean, Jack Tyler and Brandon Watts relevant as possible starters, but please feel free to disagree with this in the comments.
So, it sounds like Barr is probably going to take over for Greenway as the starting SLB. If so, does Greenway move to MLB, where he seemed OK in the past? Or move to WLB? It seems unlikely to me that they will
trot Marvin Mitchell back out as re-sign Mitchell to be the starting WLB, but nobody else logged a lot of time there last year. Hodges? Audie "Pick-12" Cole? At MLB, the only major acquisition was Brinkley and the only other draftee at LB was Watts, who has to be way too small to play the middle. Could Cole handle being a full-time starter? Will we finally see the debut of Michael Mauti?
