You shouldn't believe either that the Rams at 2 or Jags at 3 will select Manziel and pass on top position prospects like Clowney, Mack, Robinson, Watkins. Any one or two who will be available when their on the clock. This would be for a qb under 6 foot with a somewhat unorthodox style for the nfl game but possess a high upside. All I can say is it will be the biggest career risk for that GM to pass on a top 3 player who starts day one in a traditional sense for a player who will need to play his position possibly a bit different at the most important and difficult position on the team.
Very simple folks, none of these qb's are anywhere near the top ten prospects in value, and the experts know this. Now for Viking fans we're likely at the spot where some consideration and or justification for Manziel, Bortles or Bridgewater is deemed worth the risk. Still would be a huge risk when players like Donald, Gilbert, Barr, Evans, Matthews could still be on the board. With each pick getting closer to the end of the top ten the upside may be worth the risk for a player like Manziel. I'm still 95% convinced no GM in the top 7 picks will pick a QB.
I hope the Vikings do select Manziel and take the risk to develop this remarkable athlete. I think we have the best situation for Manziel to develop with an experienced qb coach in Turner and with Zimmer a strong head coach for accountability. Cassel would be a great mentor. He can sit a year if needed which I think would be in his best interest. When he is ready to have a RB like AP to allow him to be more comfortable is also a huge benefit. Two days and counting, we will see if this comes to fruition.
