Sorry if this title is a little bit misleading. I don't personally have any advice for fans that are hoping to attend training camp this year. I am actually hoping to get some for myself and other fans that might be trying to make a trip from further away. First, a little background on myself.
I've grown up in Connecticut and been a Vikings fan my whole life. My father has been a fan since he was a boy in the 60's and passed it on to me. I've watched all of my friends celebrate the Patriots and Giants multiple Super Bowl wins, but the purple blood runs deep. My dad had never been out to a game in Minnesota his whole life so we decided to go to a game a few years ago. We wanted to see a divisional matchup so we decided to go to the Bears game on December 20th 2010. Unfortunately, 10 days earlier, as we all know, the roof collapsed and foiled our plans. Our goal was to see a game at the dome before they built the new stadium and we finally made it in 2012 to a home win against the Cardinals. We had a great time and were blown away by the kinship and comradery that we felt with our fellow fans. (We don't meet too many Vikings fans in New England so it was quite a shock) On the plane ride home we were already planning our next trip out to Minnesota.
We decided that we wanted to come out to see training camp this summer (this was before the draft and now we're even more excited), but we quickly realized that we knew very little about what we were attempting to plan. I tried to do some research online, but didn't find too much. We are both avid readers of DN so we decided that this might be the best platform to get some useful info.
Any info about your past experiences, best way to get to Mankato, places to stay, places to avoid, times to go, times to avoid going, places to eat, things we should/shouldn't bring, any promos or events that we wouldn't hear about otherwise (we get excited if there's any mention of the vikings on TV, we are truly deprived of Vikings info) We would really appreciate it . We know nothing and we hope to make this trip as great of a success as our last one, so we're trying trying to avoid making rookie mistakes.
Thanks in advance! Hope to see some of you out there! SKOL Vikings!!
PS. Hi Dad!!!!
