If you haven't heard by now, the FCC is looking at getting rid of net-neutrality which is defined as
the principle that Internet service providers and governments should treat all data on the Internet equally, not discriminating or charging differentially by user, content, site, platform, application, type of attached equipment, and modes of communication
Blah blah blah I know... but really, getting rid of it would SERIOUSLY impact the internet as we know it. John Oliver has a very insightful (and concurrently hilarious) video describing why getting rid of it would be bad. It can be viewed here:
Basically, we shouldn't call it Net Neutrality...as Oliver puts it, we should be calling it "Preventing Cable Company F*ckery". I implore you all to watch the video and realize what a MASSIVE ISSUE ending Net Neutrality is and why it would be essentially screwing the American population over. Please watch the video..and then TROLL to your heart's content on the FCCs website. Ironically, as of now, the search Proceedings link is down...as in 'they won't let us comment right now down'...does anyone else see this as a bit odd? I generally don't ever ask for too much, but if we as America don't stop this from passing...we're letting the government screw us AGAIN when all we would have had to do is say no...Don't let a boring topic dissuade you...because you'll soon realize how much you wish you would've spoken up before the cable companies really start f*ing you.
Please please please watch the video...even if you hate John Oliver...the points he makes are horrifying. Get through your hatred and try to see the picture he's painting...it's insane that people don't care more about this right now.
FCC.GOV is where you can go to find out where to send your shitstorm of emails on why the Government is a hackjob.
