Ponder's Time Ticking

Bsds3pacyaalevs_medium

For the first time in 3 years, Vikings Quarterback Christian Ponder is basically an afterthought heading into the upcoming season. Out of the 3 QBs battling to start on opening day against the St. Louis Rams (Ponder, Teddy Bridewater, Matt Cassel) his chances of starting that game seem the slimmest.

Honestly, if all 3 QBs remain healthy through the entire preseason, Ponder's chances of even making the opening day roster seem slim. It seems as though the Vikings are keeping him around as insurance for Bridgewater and Cassel in case one of them gets hurt before the start of the season.

Although Minnesota's coaches have been saying all the right things about how Ponder will get an equal shot to land the role as the team's starter, the generic Vikings fan knows that is not the case. It seems as the though the illustrious Christian Ponder era is coming to a close and it could be coming much sooner than later.
