As we get closer to the 3:00 PM Central deadline for NFL teams to reduce their rosters to 53 players, we have another cut by the Minnesota Vikings. . .and, like most of their other cuts, it's not a terribly surprising one.
The Vikings have released running back Dominique Williams, who led the team in rushing this preseason with 117 yards on 29 carries. He spent time on the team's practice squad in 2014 as well. It was going to be tough for anyone to crack the running back depth chart with Adrian Peterson, Jerick McKinnon, and Matt Asiata established on it already, and the team decided that Williams was not up to the task.
In a story that comes as a bit of a surprise, it appears that offensive lineman Tyrus Thompson is safe for now. . .but it may not necessarily be performance-related, according to ESPN's Ben Goessling.
Tyrus Thompson is safe for now, I'm told, because of the concussion he sustained on Thursday. Vikings can't cut him yet.

I'm not entirely sure about the protocol on that, to be honest. I guess it means he makes the 53-man roster, at least for now. If we can get an update on this, we'll bring you one.
