Linval Joseph - There's More to Him Than Just Stats

Linval Joseph is receiving a lot of attention these days from sports analysts and media. The Vikings’ Nose Tackle has been featured in a number of articles lauding his statistical performance. Last year, Andrew Krammer of 1500ESPN quoted Coach Zimmer in an Oct 26, 2015 tweet, saying that Linval was probably the best nose tackle he’s ever worked with. The 6" 4", 320 or so lb. tackle is a Vikings fan favorite and is familiar with hard work and the road to success.

In February 2012, @Tim Bella wrote a very nice biographical article about Joseph and his rising career (http://tinyurl.com/zl9d5av). His article is a must read for Linval enthusiasts! He described Joseph's dream of having his name on a billboard in St. Croix, like the one that exists for Tim Duncan. Bella also detailed Linval’s journey from high school athlete to college athlete and the mental and physical work that Linval put in to develop himself athletically. That work paid off! Joseph was drafted by the New York Giants in 2010 and played for them through 2013, earning himself a Super Bowl ring in the process. Somewhat astonishingly, the Giants chose to let him go in free agency, and the Vikings were fortunate enough to sign him.

Joseph is known for being a low-key personality and likeable guy. Bella quoted Joseph’s East Carolina Coach, Skip Holtz, as saying:

"I’ve had the pleasure to coach a lot of people, but he’s one of my favorites with

that million-dollar smile of his," Holtz says. "The respect he has for his parents and

for his elders and the work habits he has were all established in his family upbringing."

Since joining the Vikings team, Joseph has distinguished himself as a hardworking and productive player. He landed on the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2015 list, coming in at number 76. He was also named NFC Player of the Week in November 2015. Joseph is a marvel to watch on the field and Vikings fans are thrilled to call him their own.

Joseph’s birthday is October 10th. Happy Birthday Linval, and here’s to many more years with the Vikings! SKOL!
