My Perfect Vikings Mock Draft & Post Draft FA with Analysis

Ok I am back at it again...Fanspeak...CBS Big Board:

2nd Rd (16)- Dion Dawkins G/T

He is a more natural fit at Guard but his ability to also play Tackle added to his value. Plug n play starter at RG. Can slide to RT if there is an injury. Starting O-line now solidified.

TRADE!

3rd Rd (15) To NYG for 3rd Rd (23), 4th Rd (33)

3rd Rd (22)- Marcus Maye S

We finally get a plus starter next to Harrison Smith which allows him to play up on the line more often with Maye able to handle single high. Sendejo becomes the 3rd safety and we improve the starter and depth at the same time at the position.

3rd Rd (23)- Wayne Gallman RB

We got our starter Latavius Murray in Free Agency and now we grab our RB 2 in Wayne Gallman in the draft. Like Murray he can do it all. Runs well, can catch and pass block. Especially good in short yardage with 2nd efforts around the goal line and also has the short area burst to get to the corner. Tough One cut runner.

4th Rd (13)- Jarron Jones DT

6'6, 316 with Long Arms. Bats a lot of balls at the line of scrimmage and had a pair of blocked kicks as well on special teams. He's the early down 3 technique we need next to Linval Joseph. Our D-line coaches are the best in the business and this kid is someone they can work with.

4th Rd (21)- Dede Westbrook WR/KR

He can immediately take over at KR but unlike Patterson he's much more than that. He's actually an accomplished WR. He's a burner who can stretch the field and is a pretty good route runner who not only excels on the double moves on deep passes but isn't afraid to go over the middle. Not much of a blocker or red zone threat but that's not what he is here for. He's here to stretch the field and make big plays between the 20's.

4th Rd (33)- Elijah Lee OLB

The Vikings have shown a lot of interest in him and I was able to land him with the extra pick I got in the trade down with the Giants. He's one of the best cover linebackers in this draft and he can step into the WILL spot right away. 6'3, 227. He may have to add a few pounds but at 6'3 he can cover TE's and he's got blazing sideline to sideline speed to track down RB's on the perimeter.

5th Rd (16)- George Kittle TE

An absolute seam buster. Ran a 4.52 Forty Yard Dash which was the best of all TE's in this class. Solid receiving TE with reliable hands. Decent blocker but his strength is as a pass catcher.

6th Rd (15)- Zane Gonzalez K

The best kicker in the draft. 7 for 9 from 50 plus his last season. Strong leg. Have him compete with Forbath for the Kicker position in camp and let the best man win.

7th Rd (14)- Jerry Ugokwe OT

Developmental prospect who is raw but has the physical tools you look for. 6'7 321. Prototypical size. Worth a 7th rd pick to see if he can develop as a backup.

Now I would supplement this draft with a few Free Agent signings post draft:

* Austin Pasztor OT

You're going to keep 4 tackles on the 53 man roster. Reiff, Remmers and Hill are locks. You sign Pasztor you never have to see TJ Clemmings again and you can put Ugokwe on the practice squad to develop him.

* Leon Hall CB

Just in case Mack Alexander isn't quite ready to be in the field 70% of snaps in Nickel. Hall already knows Mike Zimmer's defense and can step right in and man the Nickel. Also can play outside CB or Safety if needed, adding to his value.

* Rod Streater WR

After Diggs & Thielen there are a lot of question marks and not a ton of experience especially on the outside spots. Wright is a backup slot WR and while he could still improve Treadwell could turn out as a bust. Westbrook would definitely be ready to return kicks but he may or may not be ready to be the #3WR in his first season. Streater gives you a fast WR at 6'3 with experience and past success in the NFL. He can give you production between the 20's and in the red zone and is ready to play now.
