In a little community good-will, the Vikings are set to do their 8th annual playground build on May 30th. They are set to partner with KaBoom!, and I hope it's nothing like the collaboration with KaBoom! in that Parks and Recreation episode...
It looks like a done deal, the 2014 Draft will be in May. For me personally this is awesome! I'll actually be able to watch it for once.
If the Pre-season is reduced, that could mean either an expanded regular season, or an expanded playoffs. I would prefer an expanded regular season. We've seen a lot of tiebreakers recently heading into the playoffs, and a couple more games of regular season might be enough to break those ties. Plus, I don't want to see more playoff teams, because it devalues the distinction of being in the playoffs.
Details of the new X-box were released today, and that included a new 5-year agreement between the NFL and Microsoft. Presumably there will be some NFL content available on the X-box...for sure fantasy football, but perhaps more. Will we finally get Sunday Ticket on the X-Box? I'm more of a PS3 guy, so I have no idea what the X-Box 360 is capable of, but this could be enticing enough to get me to switch...
Kevin Seiffert posted this over at his ESPN blog, and apparently a stadium executive said it is "likely" that the Packers will be the Vikings first opponent in the new stadium in the 2016 season. Bring 'em on I say!
I know many of us are tired of talking about Chris Kluwe, but it seems he's already landed on his feet.
Here's what they had to say: "This is another young, rising O-Line. Kalil, 23, Sullivan, 27, and Loadholt, 27, are Minnesota's elite up-front pieces, while improvement can be expected in 24-year-old Fusco's second season as a starter. Johnson, 29, was the weak link last year. He'll face competition from underrated sixth-round pick Jeff Baca and journeyman Berger (27 career starts). In 2011, the Vikings trotted out one of the NFL's poorest offensive lines. The ascension of Fusco and addition of Kalil turned the unit around. It's now a top-ten unit. Christian Ponder is running out of excuses." If we had better guards, I can't help but think we might have the best O-line in the league.
Tom Pelissero has this great interview up with Erin Henderson, and he sounds mighty angry that people are doubting his ability to play MLB. Good. I think he should be too!
Ray Edwards infamous "boxing" career is still continuing, and he recently said that he thought "Boxing was a safer choice than football." Wait, what? This article explains how dumb of an idea that is. Maybe Ray should just keep his mouth shut and focus on hitting his opponents.
Saw this from Seifert over on ESPN. The Vikings were reportedly interested in coach Chris Ault, whose well known for creating and popularizing the pistol offense. He was hired by the Chiefs. Hmm...wonder why? Would they have plans to utilize it with Webb or Ponder? Were they looking for ways to stop it against guys like RGIII and Kaepernick?
