Daily Norseman Fantasy Football League: Bottoms Up!
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I apologize for the delay. Had some internal issues with the site this morning that left me unable to post anything, and followed that up with a very busy afternoon, so I haven't been able to update your favorite Vikings' blog until just now.
But, anyway, I'm going to take this opportunity to do a quick update on the DN Fantasy Football League because. . .well, because it's late, and my brain is basically fried at the moment, so we'll take a quick look at the week that was and see where everyone currently stands. There will be significantly more stuff over the weekend. But, for now, here's the league update!

Daily Norseman Fantasy Football League Update: The King is Dead
The 2008 Daily Norseman Fantasy Football League is turning out to be a real barn-burner, as nine of the 12 teams currently sport records of .500 or better, and the league's last undefeated team finally went down this past weekend.

Daily Norseman Fantasy Football League Update
Yes, after missing one week worth of updates (which I apologize for), here's a quickie update on the league. I'm going to make this quick because I want to do an update on the Pick 'Em league as well.
As you no doubt noticed in his FanPost, UncleBillyBonz is still the owner of the league's only undefeated team, as his Bombers have run their record to 5-0 after the season's first five games. They did get their biggest test of the season this past week, though, and only two teams in Week 5 scored fewer points than the Bombers. Fortunately, one of those two teams was the Angry Dragons, who went down to the Bombers by a final score of 63.3 - 53.3.
While the Bombers have a 5-0 record, nobody else in the league has better than a 3-2 record at this point. Six of the league's twelve teams have that mark thus far, including three of the four teams in the Tarkenton Division. Also, the league's last winless team, Garnet and Gold, finally notched their first victory of the year, as they got a 99.45 - 92.05 victory over the PMak Attack back in Week 4.
As of right now, the teams are ranked as follows in the "Power Rankings."
1) UBB's Bombers (5-0, 1st place, Page Division)
2) PMak Attack (3-2, 1st place, Tarkenton Division)
3) Space Monkey Mafia (3-2, 2nd place, Carter Division)
4) dvikings1 (3-2, 3rd place, Tarkenton Division)
5) The Hamburglars (3-2, 2nd place, Page Division)
6) whodat (3-2, 1st place, Carter Division)
7) Angry Dragons (3-2, 2nd place, Tarkenton Division)
8) Packers Suck (2-3, 3rd place, Carter Division)
9) Rabble Rousers (2-3, 3rd place, Page Division)
10) Gonzo's Friend's Team (1-4, 4th place, Tarkenton Division)
11) Garnet and Gold (1-4, 4th place, Carter Division)
12) Dani's Purple Team (1-4, 4th place, Page Division)
No, I'm not sure how teams in second place in their divisions can be ranked ahead of first place teams. That's just the way that Fleaflicker has the teams ranked. I'm pretty sure that points scored plays a big part in that.
An update on the Pick 'Em league is forthcoming, folks. Stay tuned!

Division Play Concludes (for now) in the DN Fantasy Football League
Yes, the first three weeks of the season are complete, and each team has played all of their division rivals at least once. How are things stacking up thus far? Well, I'm glad you asked. Let's have a look.

Belated Update on the Daily Norseman Fantasy Football League
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I know I promised this stuff back on Tuesday, but I was sort of on a roll about the whole quarterback situation and couldn't stop, so here's the promised update on the Daily Norseman Fantasy Football League.
After Week 2, each division has exactly the same look. . .one team that sits at 2-0, two teams that sit at 1-1, and one team that sits at 0-2.

Week 1 In the Books for the Daily Norseman Fantasy Football League
Yes, with the end of the first week of the NFL season comes the end of the first week of fantasy football. I'm going to make an effort to keep everyone up to speed with the happenings of the Daily Norseman Fantasy Football League.
As it sits now, each division currently has two 1-0 teams and two 0-1 teams. I'm going to start off by patting myself on the back here, as my Space Monkey Mafia got off to a fast start, knocking off the defending league champions, chadly0102's Packers Suck. chadly got solid performances from Eli Manning, Marshawn Lynch, and Thomas Jones, among others. . .but my team managed to rid Donovan McNabb's big day to victory, as he was complimented by Marion Barber III.
In Division I's other game. . .and, yes, I'm going to see about editing the division names here shortly. . .speedlod's whodat locked up with FSUViking's Garnet and Gold squad. Looking at the standings, whodat was the 10th highest scoring team of the opening week. . .but, fortunately for him, the Garnet and Gold was the 11th highest, giving speedlod's squad a 54-46.85 victory. The Space Monkey Mafia and whodat will lock up next weekend in a battle for early Division I supremacy, while Packers Suck and Garnet and Gold will lock up as well.
Moving on to Division II, UBB's Bombers went up against the Hamburglars, led by cruton647. There would be no robble rousing by the Hamburglars this week, as the Bombers scored a decisive victory over the Hamburglars, 95.9 to 46.8. The Hamburglars got very little production from their RB crew of Joseph Addai and Willis McGahee, and unfortunately left Reggie Bush and Hines Ward on the bench.
The other Division II matchup saw Robert Rence's Rabble Rousers. . .try saying THAT five times fast. . .going up against Dani's Purple Team, captained by VikingEric64. While not as convincing a victory as the other Division II matchup, the Rabble Rousers still managed a comfortable victory, winning by a tally of 80.6 to 64.3. The Purple Team also suffered from a slight case of the "D'oh!" as they had fast Willie Parker sitting on their bench. . .getting nothing from his 3 TD performance against Houston. The Purple Team also has the unenviable task of attempting to find a replacement for Tom Brady, who was the 5th overall pick in the league's fantasy draft.
Next week, Division II will have a similar situation to Division I, as both of their winners will go head-to-head as the Bombers take on the Rabble Rousers. Dani's Purple Team will match up against the Hamburglars in a battle to avoid going to 0-2.
Division III gave us the highest scoring team of the week, the PMak Attack. Behind blistering performances from Michael Turner and Drew Brees, the Attack put a whupping on Gonzo's Friend's Team. . .an ironic name, since I'm not sure who Gonzo2 is. . .by the final score of 124.05 to 55.65. The Attack even had Chicago's Matt Forte on their bench, and he was only the team's third-highest scoring RB this past week. Sounds like a pretty decent little roster to me.
Division III's other matchup gave us the matchup of the Angry Dragons against dvikings1. The Dragons well and truly unleashed their anger in Week 1, getting the victory by the final score of 91.9 to 69.35. dvikings1's Chris Johnson was the highest-scoring player on either bench, but his presence in the lineup wouldn't have been enough for his team to emerge victorious.
Next week, Division III could potentially have two 2-0 teams and two 0-2 teams. . .or four 1-1 teams. . .as the Angry Dragons will take on Gonzo's Friend's Team, while the PMak Attack will go up against dvikings1.
And there's your update, ladies and gentlemen. . .looks like it's going to be a very interesting season, to say the least!

Daily Norseman Readers are Fantasy Football Crazy!
The sign-ups for the 2008 Daily Norseman Fantasy Football League will run through tomorrow, 31 July. I'm not sure what time tomorrow the sign-ups will cut off, but it will be sometime tomorrow.
The good news is that you, the readers, have come through in spades with your sign-ups for the league. Based on super-duper secret intel that I've received, as of 5 pm yesterday more people had signed up for the DN Fantasy Football League than any other league in the entire SBNation network, and by a good margin. Just so that everyone knows what their current odds are, there's a 5-in-69 (or approximately 14:1 for you gambling types) chance that your name will be one of the ones pulled out of the proverbial hopper to join the league.
Now, once again, there WILL be more leagues, as promised earlier on. However, I didn't expect quite this overwhelming a sign-up, and as a result I'm not sure how many more leagues there are going to be. In order to accomodate everybody, I would need 5 or 6 more leagues (or more, depending on how the remaining sign-up time goes), and something like that would end up looking like British Premiere League soccer with all the teams flying around. We'll have to play that by ear as the time gets closer.
But don't let that discourage you from signing up! There's at least 24 hours left for you to do so.
We'll be back with more later on, folks. . .keep enjoying your Wednesday!

Fantasy Football Sign-Ups Are OPEN!
That's right, folks, the moment you've been waiting for has arrived! (Of course, some of you might have seen the advertisement in the sidebar already, but that's here nor there.)
Your chance to be a part of the Daily Norseman's 2008 Fantasy Football League is now upon us. We here at SBNation have partnered up with FleaFlicker.com to bring you "The Fanhouse Leagues." In order to sign up, all you have to do is the following:
-Click on this link here.
-Hit the button on the left-hand side that says "Register Now."
-Fill in your name and your e-mail address, and make sure to select the Daily Norseman as your league of choice.
-Sit back and wait until sign-ups close on 31 July.
-Find out whether or not you've been selected to be a part of the league.
That's it!
Now, contrary to what the sign-up page says, the prize that will be given to the winner has NOT been determined yet. The site mentions a post by the winner that will go up on the front page of the site, and that might still end up being the prize, but we might also be playing for something else entirely or even something in addition to that. I'll have to play that one by ear to see how things go.
I'll put more out there about the scoring system and the draft date and things of that nature after the league has been filled, and I'll be posting about the happenings of the league on a weekly basis, if not more frequently. Also remember that if you don't make it into this league, and there are enough folks that want in, that I will go ahead and open up another 12-team league. . .or more than one more 12-team league if the interest is that great.
So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead and get yourself signed up and see if you get to join the best league on the best site out there dedicated to the Beloved Purple!
