A true modern classic, if one was ever produced.

Hey, it's only 85 days (or so) until the 2007 NFL Draft!  Let's take a quick spin around the web and see where some of the self-proclaimed "experts" have the Vikings spending their #7 pick.

(The majority of this list comes from the good folks at HailRedskins.com.  I will, eventually, sit down and create a similar list to this one for the Vikings. . .it's just a matter of when I have the urge to sit down and plug 110+ links into my Micro$oft FrontPage.)

Inside the Eagles:  Calvin Johnson, WR, Georgia Tech

Boy howdy, let me tell you what. . .if the draft falls in such a way that Calvin Johnson just falls into Minnesota's laps at #7, yours truly is going to need a cigarette.

And, for the record, I don't smoke.

Football's Future:  Gaines Adams, DE, Clemson

Football.com:  Ted Ginn, Jr., WR, Ohio State

Scout's Notebook:  Dwayne Jarrett, WR, Southern Cal

Those four names, along with Arkansas DE Jamaal Anderson, are the ones I see linked to the Vikings in most cases.  And in the case of Calvin Johnson, I think there's absolutely zero chance that he actually reaches the #7 pick.  We got lucky once when a bunch of teams stupidly passed on some guy named Randy Moss to let him get to #21. . .no way will Calvin Johnson get to Minnesota's spot in the draft.

As much as I loves me some Dwayne Jarrett and think he's going to be a great WR at the next level. . .I think I'd almost have to say that Anderson would be our best pick at the #7 spot.  Unfortunately, Washington seems to have their eye on him as well. . .and they pick at #6.  Adams would be okay, I suppose, but I think Anderson is going to be the better player.

If we could get our hands on Anderson, I'd love to have him and a healthy Erasmus James at the ends, Kevin Williams and Kenechi Udeze in the middle (Udeze sliding over on obvious passing downs), and Pat Williams being able to focus even more on being the best run-stopping DT in football.  Which he is, in case any of you missed the memo.

This year's draft is insanely deep at WR, anyway.  The Vikings could get a great talent that could step in immediately at the top of Round 2.  Yes, Dwayne Bowe and Sidney Rice, I'm looking at you.
