Vikings @ Seahawks, Open Thread

Minnesota Vikings at Seattle Seahawks
Qwest Field
Seattle, Washington

  1st 2nd 3rd 4th F
Vikings 0 10 3 0 13
Seahawks 6 10 7 7 30

Game 3 of the pre-season, folks. . .and as Redd Foxx was fond of saying, "This is the big one." The third pre-season game is the one where the starters are generally given the most time and things are a bit less "vanilla" than the other pre-season games. If I had to guess, I'd have to think that the Vikings will play their starters for at least a half tonight, and possibly part of the third quarter as well.

Also, unless I misinterpreted their schedule, the game starts at 8 PM Central, should get over by 11 PM (or so) Central. . .and will then immediately be on the NFL Network for a re-broadcast at midnight Central. That's what my DirecTV box is showing anyway. That's some pretty amazing turnaround right there. I don't know how psyched I am at staying up until 3 AM to watch the beloved Purple, but a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. I suffer for YOU, ladies and gentlemen.

Continue enjoying your weekend, ladies and gentlemen, and SKOL VIKES!!

I'm glad I haven't seen it thus far
The special teams have sounded AWFUL. . .Longwell missing field goals, bad punts by Kluwe, big returns for the Seahawks.

On the bright side, it sounds like Jackson has been having a decent game.  Defense has played relatively well, too.

Only 9-0 at this point, because Seattle sucks in the red zone every bit as much as we do.

TRICKY VIKINGS!
6-yard touchdown pass from Bobby Wade to Visanthe Shiancoe.

Wade took the handoff on an end around and hit a wide open #81 in the end zone.  Longwell hits the XP to make it 9-7, Seahawks.

Drive was set up by an Antoine Winfield interception.

Two-minute Warning
And one of the Vikings' players is being taken off of Qwest Field via ambulance.  I'm listening to a Seattle audio feed, and they haven't mentioned who it is.

It's Cameron Siskowic
Linebacker from Illinois State that the Vikings signed about two weeks ago.

Doesn't sound like a good situation at this point.

seen enough
this cements my earlier belief that 2007 will be an important year in the rebuilding of this team...TJ will take his lumps, and it will be tough to watch a better than average Defensive team not get rewarded for their hard work, but by 2008, with a full year under their belts, the offense should be able to score some points...6 wins for this team in 2007 isn't that bad, when you really look close at what they have, and how far they need to go...
I hate the Bears, laugh at the Lions, and wipe my butt with a Packers towel.

Vikings
Geez its preseason and a new coach.Long gone is meathead who couldnt keep his mouth shut. That little reverse pass play was crisp but shows the offense can play together.
I wont crown the Vikes Super Bowl champs this year but see maybe a 10-6 season.
They showed some speed in areas all in all feel that this year wont be a bag year.

Special teams are definitely a concern...
...throughout the preseason, the Vikes have been getting thrashed on special teams and kickoffs.  I have said it before and will again, field position is the biggest advantage in this game, and the special teams are giving it up at an alarming pace.  It would seem that some things never change......
