Another day, another player signed to a one-year deal by the Vikings.  This time the player signed is CB Benny Sapp, late of the Kansas City Chiefs.  Sapp's been in the league for four seasons, all of them spent with the Chiefs.

Sapp was an undrafted free agent in 2004 out of the University of Northern Iowa.  He actually started out at the University of Iowa, but some discipline problems eventually forced him to transfer to UNI.

Sapp has played in 56 games since entering the National Football League, but has only started six of those games.  In those 56 games, he has 103 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 13 passes defensed, and 2 interceptions.

So there you go. . .nothing terribly earth-shattering, but it provides some more depth and competition in camp, if nothing else.  I'm not sure if Sapp is markedly better than Marcus McCauley or Charles Gordon, but he's cheap enough (his one-year deal will only pay him $705,000), and he has a little potential, so there's no real harm in taking a shot with him.
