Ice Cube Said It Best

"Today. . .was a good day."

I would just like to use this space to talk about Brett Favre and his impending retirement with all the dignity and respect he deserves.

*crickets chirping*

*tumbleweed blows through*

There.  Done.  That was easy.

(What, you thought I was going to talk with respect and admiration about a person I have no respect or admiration for?  Not a chance.)

And now, let us never speak of it again outside of this post and its comment section.

A good day indeed
Its very fitting that his last pass was a poor decision that was intercepted and cost his heavily favored team the game on the revered frozen tundra of Lambeau Field.   Good Riddance, I say.

I respect the guy...
But I was celebrating his retirement. With him hitting the bricks, I'm pretty sure we're done in terms of competition for the NFC North.

Unless Kitna guarantees another 10 wins. Then we may be in trouble. snicker

In Rememberance...
I think every Viking fan should go back and watch his 4 int. performance against the Vikings in the playoffs back in 2005.  I love how the commentators laud him for his gunslinger mentality, but that same mentality cost his team plenty of games, and that was one of them.  I loved every minute of it!

Have some respect
We should be honored to have had the opportunity to watch such an amazing football player.  This isn't some trash-talking wannabe, Brett Favre was an incredible quarterback and a good guy.  He may only be in the Top 10 of all-time quarterbacks (due to all his picks...were it not for those, he'd have a lot more rings under his belt) but you can't forget the fact that even statistically, he won an incredible amount of games, he threw an incredible amount of TDs, and an incredible amount of yards, all without any sort of super-star cast. As for the division, let's not start thinking it's going to be a cake-walk, Kitna's got receivers and he knows how to use them, Aaron Rodgers may not have ever had a chance but is still a solid QB and the Green Bay D is still nasty as ever...and the Bears...well, they should be a cake-walk...Berrian certainly helps us, maybe now AP won't have to deal with 10 men in the box every time he tries to run anywhere.
Skol Vikings!

Well Said...
Favre was a class act.  Although I hated what the media (i.e. John Madden) made him out to be (a football God), all he did was have fun and play hard every week.  We can only hope that the Vikings will one day find a QB with the talent and competitive spirit if Favre.

Yeah, the division opened up, but this is the NFL, and there is competition every week.  I wouldn't count any of the NFC North teams out.  The Packers are still loaded on both sides of the football, and Aaron Rodgers played extremely well in relief of Favre against the Cowboys.

Also remember, we are only one injury (to AD) away from a 4-12 season.  Injuries are part of the game, and we have a lot riding on the success of one player.

Mr. Viking

Yes, Favre was all class.
Never flipped the bird at any opposing players coughHovancough.

Never threw his own guys under the bus or stuck his nose where it didn't belong, coughJavonWalkercough

Never did drugs or got into any trouble.
coughVicodencough

Never called fake press conferences to draw attention to himself.

Never walked off the field early when his team was losing.

Never dodged a press conference after a terrible performance.

yup, he did everything right.

VikeGuru is a doofus!!
