Ridiculous!!
I don’t see what the big hang up on Brian Brohm is. If he was as good as everyone claims he is why did so many teams pass on him? Maybe because he has a long list of injuries. And since so many of you complain about Jackson missing games due to injury I don’t think you would want Brohm coming here and doing the same. It was obvious that the Vikes didn’t take a tackle with their first pick in the draft because there weren’t any worth taking that high after the first round. Only ONE went in the 2nd round and that was to the Colts. We needed to get younger at safety if Sharper gets hurt or doesn’t come back next year and Johnson was the highest rated safety according to Mel Kiper Jr and other draft “experts”.
I love after one full year as a starter everyone thinks that Jackson is not the QB for this team. Noone believes in development anymore eh? Just expect a young qb to come in and pick up the west coast offense and win every game. What a load of crap from a bunch of idiots who don’t know too much about football. Ask any real NFL expert and they’ll tell you that it takes any rookie, especially a QB, three years to get acclimated to the NFL. This is barely Jackson’s 2nd year starting. Why is it that the Eagles were one good receiver from getting to the Super Bowl but the Vikings getting Allen doesn’t put them in Super Bowl contention? We would have won that Denver game had Troy Williamson not dropped two critical passes. We would have won the KC game had we had a pass rusher get to Huard before he threw the pass to Bowe for the game winning TD. Both issues have been addressed in free agency and those two games would have put us at 10-6 and into the playoffs.
Everyone knows that once you’re in the playoffs anything can happen. “Brent” says we need to score points to win games, our offense ranked 13th in the league, better than Washington, the Giants, Tampa, San Diego, all playoff teams and one SB winner, and we averaged 22.8 pts per game. With an upgraded defense that’s plenty to win games. People forget that QBs like Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson and Eli Manning won Super Bowls with great defense and game management. So to win the Super Bowls you don’t have to be the top rated QB in the league but I guess for most ignorant Vikings fans you do. I can’t remember when was the last time we had a d-coordinator for more than one year. Everytime one left the new one had to come in and establish his own “style” of defense instead of trying to fix what the problems of the previous coordinator. Now that Frazier has one year under his belt he can fix his own mistakes and improve in year two. A few upgrades to the defense, ie. M. Williams and J. Allen, and this defense is good to go.
I love when people come on here and say ridiculous things and try to sound like fans. The Vikings have poor depth? I may give you that when it comes to the offensive line but only when it comes to the tackle position. Other than that we have GREAT depth at every other position. WR behind Berrian and Rice:B. Wade, A. Allison, R. Ferguson and rookie J. Johnson. D-line behind Edwards, Williams’x2 and Allen:F. Evans, K. Allen, E. James, J. Mitchell, O. Grigsby, B. Robison, E. Wyms and rookie L. Guion. LBs behind Henderson, Leber and Greenway: D. Sartz, H. Farwell, D. Pope, R. Alexander, D. Herron and V. Ciurciu. DBs behind Sharp, Williams, Griffin and Winfield: M. Boulware, C. Gordon, M. McCauley, E. Frampton and rookie T. Johnson. RB behind Peterson: C. Taylor, M. Hicks, T. Tapeh, N. Tahi. Not sure where I see the poor depth. Derrick Pope was a starter for the Dolphins and is now our back up, Michael Boulware was a starter for Seattle and Houston and is now one of our backups, David Herron was wanted so badly by Bill Belichik that he had to call Childress to tell him not to take him or else. Rufus Alexander was the 2nd rated LB coming out of college last year and Heath Farwell knows all the LB positions like the back of his hand. We should all remember how well our DBs stepped up when Winfield went down with an injury for a few games last year. Artis Hicks was our starter at guard and also a starter for the Eagles and he backs up our guard and LT positions. I don’t see the “poor” depth that I’m hearing with this team. Now as far as QB goes, what can you tell someone who wants instant success from that position and doesn’t believe in development. Oh well!
