As it stands right now, the Minnesota Vikings are the only team in the National Football League that hasn't played a pre-season game yet.
In less than 24 hours, that will change.
Yes, purple brethren (and. . .sisteren?), in about 24 hours, the Vikings and Raiders will be kicking things off from the Metrodome. This will be the first ever Monday Night Football game on ESPN, with their 3-man announce booth of Mike Tirico, Joe Theismann, and Tony "Your God and Mine" Kornheiser. With Theismann being the only remaining member of last year's ESPN team (along with Paul Maguire and Mike Patrick), we should only hear the name "Brett Favre". . .oh, 27 times. That's a lot fewer than it's usually mentioned in games he's not involved in. I'm sure ESPN will be angered by this.
I'm actually looking forward to Kornheiser's involvement in this whole thing. Of course, I'm also one of five people on the North American continent that thought Dennis Miller on Monday Night Football was a damn good idea. But I love me some PTI, and I've been listening to his radio show for a while. . .first on ESPN Radio, and now on XM Satellite Radio. I think he'll definitely bring a different perspective to the broadcast.
But, anyway, according to Judd Zulgad's blog on the Star-Tribune website, Coach Childress has set the QB rotation for tomorrow's game. It will be as follows:
-Brad Johnson will start (duh) and play the first quarter
-Mike McMahon will start the second quarter
-Tavaris Jackson will play some of the second quarter and play the third quarter
-J.T. O'Sullivan will play the fourth quarter
We are less than 24 hours from Vikings football. FOOTBALL, by God!
