Phat Pat Makes Pro Bowl

Well, the inevitable has finally happened.  Pat Williams has finally been named to the NFC Pro Bowl team.  He'll be an injury replacement for the Chicago Bears' real defensive MVP, DT Tommie Harris, in Honolulu.

It's amazing that after a decade of being one of the best run-stoppers in the league. . .and probably THE best for the last 3-4 years. . .that this is big #94's first ever trip to Hawai'i.  P-Will has never been a big time pass rusher, so he doesn't get the "sexy" number of sacks to get him to the Pro Bowl on a regular basis. . .but, again, there's nobody in the NFL that's better at stopping the run than Pat Williams.  Nobody.  Anywhere.  Frankly, I can't think of anyone that's even close.

Phat Pat even got some praise from an unexpected source.

"Pat is the best run stuffer in the league, by far, of all the guys I've played against," Kreutz said Sunday night as the Bears settled into their local hotel. "Even though we don't get along or whatever, wherever he goes, it's the No. 1 run defense, and that's because of him."

Well, if anyone would know, it would be Kreutz.  I know I certainly look forward to Williams continuing to kick his ass twice a year for the immediate future.

Congratulations to Pat Williams on his long-overdue recognition!
