Vikings News: Darrion Scott Goes On Injured Reserve

Well, now. . .this just plain ol' sucks.  From Access Vikings:

The Vikings have placed DE Darrion Scott on injured reserve, ending his season because of an apparent foot injury.

UPDATE: We're told Scott broke his left foot in practice Monday.

The team revealed the move in a press release late this afternoon. No injury or explanation was provided.

Scott participated in the early portion of practice Monday at Winter Park, and afterwards coach Brad Childress said that all players made it through the workout healthy. Scott, however, was seen in the locker room with an immobilizing boot on his left foot as he walked with crutches.

Scott is a pretty major piece of the defensive line puzzle for the Vikings.  Versatile enough to play both end and tackle, he led the Vikings last year with 5.5 sacks.  The Vikings tried to trade him this past off-season, but he wound up signing his one-year tender, and will be a free agent this off-season.

In order to fill Scott's place on the roster, the Vikings brought OL Brian Daniels up from the practice squad.

So, our pass rush had enough problems as it was, and now our best reserve is done for the year, and probably done as a Minnesota Viking.  Not the sort of news we wanted to hear going into a make or break game this weekend.
