Herrera Extended

New, comments

As "chacabuco" mentioned in the diaries, the Vikings signed RG Anthony Herrera to a 5-year, $15 million extension last week.  I'm not 100% sure how much of the deal is guaranteed, but I doubt Herrera will actually see the entire $15 million.

The quality of the play of the offensive line has improved dramatically since Herrera replaced Artis "False Start" Hicks before the Chicago game, and I'm personally quite happy that we have Herrera locked up for the long term.  McKinnie, Hutchinson, and now Herrera are all signed until 2012, which should make Mr. Jackson, Mr. Peterson, and Mr. Taylor all quite happy.  We need to start looking for a serious replacement at center for Birk, and I'm still not Ryan Cook's biggest fan, but I certainly can't gripe about the O-line play over the past month and a half or so, save for one game.

More stuff on the rest of the Vikings' upcoming schedule here in a little bit.
