R.I.P. Calvert DeForest

"Who the heck is Calvert DeForest," some of you might ask?  Well, if you've watched the David Letterman show in its two various forms (the NBC version and the CBS version), you know Calvert DeForest better as Larry "Bud" Melman, the "unofficial spokesman" for the Letterman show.

I love the Letterman show. . .my old high school geography teacher and T-ball coach, Mr. Prekker (who is the one that placed the nickname "Gonzo" upon me more than 25 years ago. . .Christ, I feel old now) used to bring in the Top 10 lists for us to watch during class, and every once in a while there was a Larry "Bud" Melman sketch on there as well.  The guy was always good for a laugh.  It had been 4 or 5 years since he'd been on the show, but he was a pretty unforgettable character.

Mr. DeForest left no survivors and will have no funeral service, but donations can be made in his name to the Actors' Fund of America.

Here's one of the classics from Mr. Melman. . ."Can a Guy In a Bear Suit Get Change?"  Enjoy!
