In about 5 1/2 days, we'll be sitting here watching the NFL Draft. . .complete with running commentary from yours truly.
The NFL has their schedule spaced out so brilliantly, don't they? You start out with Training Camp in mid-to-late July, exhibition games in August, regular season from September to late December, and playoff games through the first week of February. Then, a few weeks later, you get free agency around 1 March. . .which carries us into draft time. . .which goes into the 1 June cuts. . .and then, before you know it, it's time for Training Camp again.
No wonder football is the most popular sport in America. . .it never really goes away.
But Draft Day stands out for most of us. It's the first thing that really gets most people fired up and looking towards the next season. . .more so this year, thanks to the completely and utterly boring free agency period that we've had. I can't wait to see what our team is going to do this coming Saturday and Sunday.
In light of that, I've put one last draft question on the right side there. Strictly your opinion about who you want the Vikings to take at #7, providing they don't trade up or down. I only included players that I think have a realistic chance of being available at that spot. . .hence the reason you don't see the names "JaMarcus Russell," "Joe Thomas," and "Calvin Johnson." If you have a hankering to see the Vikings take someone else at #7, use this post to comment about it.
Over the course of the next few days here, we'll take a look at some of those players, release the final DN Mock draft of 2007, and wait in anticipation for Saturday afternoon.
No other Vikings' news to speak of today, so that's all for now. Have a good one, folks!
