A Year in the Life

Do you know what today is?
It's our anniversary

-Tony Toni Tone, Anniversary

Jeebus. . .I went from Van Halen to Tony Toni Tone in the span of about 8 hours.  Interpret that however you want, I guess.

But it is indeed true. . .exactly one year ago today, the first ever story went live here on this humble little website.  Through an entire pre-season of optimism, a regular season of disappointment, and now almost to training camp again, it's hard to believe I've been at it for an entire year already.  Over the course of the last 365 days, 373 stories (counting this one) have gone up here at The Daily Norseman. . .some of them have been related to the Vikings, some to football in general, and some have been completely off the beaten path.  But they've all been geared at entertaining you, my fellow fans of the beloved Purple, and anyone else that happens to wander by our little corner of the Interweb.

I'd first like to thank all of the great readers of this site, whether you check the site out on a daily basis, or if you've only been here once or twice.  As of right now, just over 51,000 people have stopped by this website. . .and yes, some of them were searching for porn (thank you, anonymously posted comments), but the majority of the folks that have come by here have been looking for stories and opinions on Vikings football, and I'd like to think that I've delivered that to them.

Second of all, I'd like to thank the folks behind SBNation for taking a chance on some guy that had never even formally blogged (let alone written) about his own team before.  I have a personal blog that I used to post some Vikings-related thoughts on (a site that I've largely ignored since starting here at DN), but nothing like what some of my SBNation brethren (and sistren. . .is it sistren?) had done prior to joining the SBNation team.  But the brain trust behind the network read my e-mail inquiring about the job, read some of my Vikings stuff, and decided to make me part of the team.  Without them, none of this would be possible, and this site will be experiencing some big things in the near future, as will the rest of SBNation.

That's all for now. . .I've got a podcast to check out.  (Click the graphic over on the right there, and you can check out either the live broadcast or a replay, too.)  Thanks again to each and every one of you out there. . .we've got one year down, and hopefully we've got many more years (and much greater successes) to go!

Have a good night, everybody!
