Per SI.com, the Vikings have officially signed former Green Bay WR Robert Ferguson to a contract.
Ferguson, who to this point in his 6-year career is best known for nearly getting his head separated from his shoulders by then-Jacksonville safety Donovin Darius, has more career catches than any current Vikings' receiver. He has 116 catches in 6 seasons, more than Bobby Wade's 101 (in 4 seasons) and Troy Williamson's 61 (in 2 seasons). He's also only played all 16 regular season games once in his career, back in 2002.
You'll have to pardon my lack of enthusiasm and excitement over this move. Ferguson has never shown anything, and I'd be surprised if he did so in Minnesota.
Update [2007-8-21 20:23:44 by Gonzo]:
Vikings Now is reporting that Ferguson signed a one-year deal that could be worth as much as $1.5 million, counting incentives.
So, not terrible, I guess. I'd still rather not have him taking up roster space, though.
