Jay Glazer is reporting on Sirius NFL Radio that the Vikings have acquired QB Kelly Holcomb from the Philadelphia Eagles for an undisclosed draft choice.
Hat tip to "scooter2002" from the Purple Thoughts board for this tip. I don't have Sirius (I'm an XM man, myself) so I can't verify yet whether this is true or not.
The conventional wisdom was that the Vikings were just going to wait for Holcomb to get cut and try to get him then, but the Atlanta Falcons (who we happen to play in Week 1) apparently entered the Holcomb derby as well, forcing the Vikings to give up a pick in exchange.
I certainly hope it was nothing more than a 6th rounder or so. Of course, I don't know if we have our 6th for this year, as it was traded away as part of the deal last year for Brooks Bollinger, who will (hopefully) be picking up the white courtesy phone any time now.
More on this when I can find it.

Pro Football Talk has the trade on their Rumor Mill.
Update [2007-8-27 16:0:12 by Gonzo]:
According to RotoWorld, the trade is, indeed, for a sixth-round pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. Maybe we got an extra one in our dealings on draft day, but I don't remember it off the top of my head.
Update [2007-8-27 18:14:59 by Gonzo]:
NOW it's being reported that the trade is for a 6th round pick in 2009, not 2008. Makes it an even better deal, IMO.
