The Vikings and the Redskins have both released their final injury reports in advance of this Sunday's game at FedEx Field, and while one of these two teams is relatively healthy, one of them is looking at a really insane number of injuries.
Let's take a look first at the bad guys. While the Redskins may have gotten a 19-16 overtime victory over the Tennessee Titans last Sunday, the health of their roster took a tremendous hit, as you can see from their injury report.
Player | Position | Injury | Friday Practice | Game Status |
Clinton Portis | RB | Abdomen | Did Not Participate | Injured Reserve |
LaRon Landry | S | Achilles | Did Not Participate | Out |
Ryan Torain | RB | Hamstring | Did Not Participate | Out |
Jeremy Jarmon | DE | Hamstring | Did Not Participate | Questionable |
Santana Moss | WR | Knee | Did Not Participate | Questionable |
Lorenzo Alexander | LB | Hamstring | Limited Participation | Questionable |
Brandon Banks | WR | Knee | Limited Participation | Questionable |
Derrick Dockery | G | Knee | Limited Participation | Questionable |
Kedric Golston | DE | Elbow | Limited Participation | Questionable |
Artis Hicks | G | Thigh | Limited Participation | Questionable |
Rocky McIntosh | LB | Thigh | Limited Participation | Questionable |
Casey Rabach | C | Knee | Limited Participation | Questionable |
Carlos Rogers | CB | Hamstring | Limited Participation | Questionable |
Donovan McNabb | QB | Hamstring | Full Participation | Probable |
Yes, that's a full TEN players that are listed as "Questionable" for this Sunday's game. The Vikings, by contrast, only have nine players on their entire injury report.
According to the good folks over at Hogs Haven, Lorenzo Alexander has said he's going to play, and it sounds like Rabach and Hicks are probably a go, too. Santana Moss is likely a game-time decision, and I won't lie. . .it would be a huge advantage for us if that guy doesn't go. The guys at HH said they'd also be very surprised if Rogers played on Sunday. The absence of Rogers and LaRon Landry (who's been a tackling machine this year when he's been healthy) in the secondary could be a huge advantage for us.
Vikings injury report comes after the jump.
Player | Position | Injury | Friday Practice | Game Status |
Jamarca Sanford | S | Hamstring | Did Not Participate | Out |
Bernard Berrian | WR | Groin | Did Not Participate | Questionable |
Sidney Rice | WR | Hip | Did Not Participate | Questionable |
Eric Frampton | S | Hamstring | Limited Participation | Questionable |
Husain Abdullah | S | Ankle | Limited Participation | Probable |
Jared Allen | DE | Neck | Limited Participation | Probable |
Brett Favre | QB | Who knows, really? | Limited Participation | Probable |
Chad Greenway | LB | Eye | Full Participation | Probable |
John Sullivan | C | Calf | Full Participation | Probable |
Coach Frazier has come out and said that the status of Bernard Berrian would be determined on Saturday, rather than having to wait until game time on Sunday. In other words, we won't be getting the ol' Al Czervik treatment from Berrian this week like we've gotten the past two weeks. If Berrian is capable of actually contributing to the offense, he'll be out there. If he's not, Hank Baskett will likely be up and Berrian will be on the inactive list.
Sidney Rice's being held out of Friday's practice is largely a precautionary measure. After playing way more snaps than the team had anticipated on Sunday against Green Bay, Rice said his hip felt fine, so the Vikings are simply being cautious with him leading up to this weekend's game, it appears. The rest of the Vikings on the list appear to be a pretty good bet to play this Sunday, so I wouldn't expect a lot of drastic changes from the usual inactive list.
And there's your look at this week's injury report heading into the first game of the Leslie Frazier era.
