Well, last week for our Sleeper of the Week, I gave you Oakland Raiders' wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey. And I have to give myself credit for this one. . .it was a pretty good choice, as he hauled in six passes for 82 yards, leading the Raiders in both categories. Yeah, not super awesome or anything, but still. . .that's a good 8 points in most leagues, and that can make a difference between winning and losing.
So, this week, I'm going to go with someone at the running back position, and for this one we're going to have to go to Jerryworld, and the game between the Dallas Cowboys and the St. Louis Rams. Felix Jones, the Cowboys' primary running back, is going to miss the game with an ankle issue. The Rams currently possess the worst run defense in the National Football League, allowing 161.8 yards per game.
Somebody is going to have to take advantage of that and, in this case, I think that "somebody" is going to be rookie DeMarco Murray. Now, Murray has gotten off to a bit of a slow start, having missed the first two games of the year. Thus far, he's only gotten 24 carries for 71 yards, and the team has been working him in slowly, but he definitely has the ability to get some yardage against a terrible St. Louis run defense.
According to our friends at Yahoo!, Murray is owned in 49% of all of their fantasy football league, so there's at least a coin flip chance that he's available in yours. If you have someone like Frank Gore or LeSean McCoy or Fred Jackson that has a week off this week, see if you can't grab DeMarco Murray.
(By the way, our own Christian Ponder would be a decent pick-up, too, but I didn't want to seem like too much of a homer. Ponder is probably going to rack up a lot of yards. . .not sure about scoring passes, but he could be a nice get, too.)
