For our final Miller Lite "Man Up" post of the season, we give a tip of the hat to a guy that has been manning up for the Vikings pretty much as long as he's been on the roster.
Percy Harvin did everything that he could to attempt to will the Vikings to victory on Sunday afternoon against the Atlanta Falcons. He was targeted on eight passes, and caught all eight of them for 95 yards (a fairly impressive yardage total considering that his first reception came on a poorly executed screen pass and resulted in an eight-yard loss) and a touchdown. He had five carries for eleven yards and what should have been another touchdown, from everything that I saw. And, of course, as we've mentioned ad nauseum over the past few days, he had a 104-yard kick return that wound up being the longest non-scoring play in NFL history.
I'm not sure how many other candidates you could really find for this week's award recipient. . .Christian Ponder continues to make strides and play well, but he'd really be about the only other person I can think of off the top of my head for this week's award.
So, pretty much by default, our "Man Up" award for this week goes to Percy Harvin, and he truly deserves it. If this team had 53 Percy Harvins, they would probably go undefeated. Unfortunately, since that cloning technology hasn't been perfected yet, we're just going to have to be happy with the one we have. So, in the words of rock legends DVDA. . .
NOW YOU'RE A MAN! A MAN, MAN, MAN!
NOW YOU'RE A MAN! A MANLY, MANLY MAN!
A MAN, MAN, MAN! YOU ARE NOW A MAN, YOU'RE A MAN!
NOW YOU'RE A MAN!
