This is a bit of a departure from the normal football/Vikings news that we do here, but this is such a huge bit of news for this company that I had to put something up here about it.
For those of you that follow baseball in any way, surely you know about the work of Rob Neyer at ESPN. Quite simply, he's one of the best baseball writers going today, and is always extraordinarily kind to fans and people that ask him questions about the sport of baseball.
Well. . .today, in a move that can be described as nothing less than earth-shattering for everybody connected with this company, Rob Neyer has left ESPN to join the family here at SB Nation.
Really, the English language pretty much lacks the words to describe how awesome this is for us. Someone like Mr. Neyer. . .who had been with ESPN.com since its inception 15 years ago and is considered one of the best, if not THE best, baseball writer of his generation. . .gives SB Nation a real air of legitimacy. Granted, this network has been around for a while as well, but people still, for some reason, largely have the "guy living in his parents' basement" view of bloggers and the blogging community. Having someone like Rob Neyer on board here at the company pretty much destroys that.
So, I just wanted to make that announcement. Like I said, it isn't football, but it IS freaking huge, so I wanted to make sure I got something up here about it.
Welcome to SB Nation, Mr. Neyer! I think I speak for a lot of people here when I say I'm very much looking forward to reading your work.
