According to two different sources via the Twitter, it doesn't look like a whole lot of "real" progress has been made in the labor negotiations between the owners and the NFL Players Association.
We'll start with one of the players, Bengals' wide receiver Chad Ochocinco Johnson Ochocinco Johnson Ochocinco.
For those who don't know the labor talks with the owners n NFLPA= we are nowhere near close to a deal, this will roll into September.
If Mr. Ochocinco isn't a convincing enough source, here's ESPN's Adam Schefter saying pretty much the same thing.
NFLPA Exec Dir De Smith addressing agents now. An agent in room texted: "Not close on one single issue. This WILL go into September."
I would really, really love to hope that this isn't true. . .and for now, this is to be taken with a grain of salt.
However, if these two sides have spent the last week meeting with a federal mediator and still "aren't close on one single issue," it's really hard to spin in a positive manner.
It would be quite spectacular if both sides on this issue could cure their rectal-cranial inversion and make things work before they blow up the greatest sports league in America, but I'm not sure that I'm terribly optimistic. Might need to break out that Arena football primer I put together last season. Ugh.
