Who Should the Minnesota Vikings Use Their Franchise Tag On?

New, comments

Well, now you've seen the stats and the financial figures and everything else for the three players that, in my opinion, the Vikings would be most likely to franchise if they were to put the tag on one of their impending free agents.

So, I put the vote to you, ladies and gentlemen of the Daily Norseman community. If you were in the shoes of Rick Spielman, which of these three players would you place the franchise tag on for the 2011 off-season?

Personally, I'm torn on this one. . .I think Ray Edwards is pretty much gone, largely because he'd cost entirely too much, and I think he's the kind of guy that would start sporting a real attitude problem if the team put the franchise tag on him. That would leave a decision between Sidney Rice and Chad Greenway.

As stated in the breakdowns, Greenway is one of the Vikings' most consistent performers, but the physical talent and potential of Sidney Rice could mean a great deal to the offense, particularly an offense that could be breaking in a young new quarterback that would need as many sure things as the team could give him.

In the end, it might be easier to get a deal done with Greenway absent the franchise tag. . .so, personally, I think I would cross my fingers, put the tag on Sidney Rice, and try to get something worked out with Greenway at a later date. . .whenever that date might be.

What say you, ladies and gentlemen?
