2011 NFL Draft: Projecting The Vikings' Pick At Number 12

For the last month or so, we've tried to mix up our topics a bit so that we have something to talk about rather besides the lockout and the draft. But, since the draft is the main focus of what we're going to be doing here for the next couple of weeks, it's time to gauge the pulse of you, the outstanding readers of the best Minnesota Vikings site in the world, what they think is going to happen on April 28th in New York.

Note. . .what you think will happen, not what you would like to happen.

We'll discuss further after the jump.

Rick Spielman has said that there are five positions that the Vikings have focused on with their 2011 first round draft choice. Since we're Viking fans that have been paying attention for the past year or so, those positions would appear to be pretty obvious. They would be quarterback, offensive line, defensive line, defensive back, and wide receiver.

So, you know, pretty much everything except for running back and linebacker, where it appears the Vikings are pretty well set.

In an effort to try to make this as realistic as possible, I've removed a few players as possibilities that really don't have any chance of being available with the 12th overall selection. The players I've removed are quarterbacks Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert, defensive tackles Marcell Dareus and Nick Fairley, cornerback Patrick Peterson, and linebacker Von Miller. None of those guys are getting to the Vikings' pick at 12, but there will be plenty of talented players for the Vikings to choose from. I thought about taking wide receivers Julio Jones and A.J. Green off of the list as well, but they're sort of all over the place, so I kept them on.

If there's a particular player that you've got a crush on for whatever reason, try to put it aside as best you can and tell us what you think will actually happen with the 12th overall selection for the Minnesota Vikings. If there's a player on the list that you don't think will be available at 12, don't vote for them. Vote for who you think the Minnesota Vikings will actually select.
