Earlier today, the Orange County Register (via Sports Business Daily) cited the Minnesota Vikings as one of five teams that stadium development group AEG claims to have spoken to about a potential relocation to the West Coast. The other teams are the San Diego Chargers, Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams, and Jacksonville Jaguars
This move came as a surprise to Vikings' Vice President of Public Affairs and Stadium Development Lester Bagley. Upon hearing this news, he snapped his fingers, moved his head from side to side, and declared "Oh no you di-int!"
(Well, not really. . .he just spoke with Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500 in Minneapolis to set the record straight. But my way of describing it is funnier, I think.)
Just got a call from #Vikings VP Lester Bagley. Says team has had no contact with AEG since meeting about stadium management last month.
Well, we all know that the Vikings have been the subject of relocation speculation. . .as opposed to actual talks. . .for quite a while now. I'm not sure if this will be enough for some folks to finally get up off of their rear ends and get something done with the new stadium deal, but hopefully it can serve as some kind of a motivator.
