Well, after a bit of a delay, we are starting a "Game Ball of the Week" feature once again here, highlighting the one player that stood out for the Beloved Purple during a particular week's game. Most weeks, we will do a poll for this, but this one managed to sort of sneak up on us, so I'll go ahead and field this one.

Besides, I think the choice for this week is relatively obvious.

Running back Adrian Peterson showed, once again, why he is the best running back in the National Football League with his performance against Tampa Bay this past Sunday. For most of the first half, Peterson ran over, around, and through the Buccaneers' defense, scoring both of Minnesota's touchdowns in the first half of the game and helping the Vikings to a 17-0 lead. Peterson's 218 yards over the first two weeks of the season have him leading the NFC in that category and fourth in the NFL overall.

The two touchdowns that Peterson scored also put him into the Vikings' record books once again. Coming into the game, Peterson was tied for the Vikings' all-time lead in rushing touchdowns with Chuck Foreman and Bill Brown. While Foreman required seven years in a Vikings uniform to get 52 rushing touchdowns, and Brown needed 13 seasons in purple to get that many, Peterson reached that figure in only four years and one game. But, with his 1-yard touchdown plunge in the first quarter, Peterson broke that three-way tie, and his 9-yard run in the second quarter bumped him up to 54 in his career.

For those accomplishments, Adrian Peterson receives our Samsung Game Ball of the Week for Week Two of the 2011 NFL season.
