Now, when I say "combine," I don't mean like Voltron or Captain Planet or something. . .you know, for the 50% of the audience who knows what either or both of those things are. Even though that would really be kind of awesome.
No, Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson, along with SB Nation adviser Ashton Kutcher and his wife, Demi Moore, have combined to form a new foundation called "Football For Good." It is a joint venture between AP's All Day Foundation and Kutcher and Moore's DNA Foundation. The campaign is designed to fight human trafficking of minors, as well as to raise funds for community programs for at-risk youth.
As a part of this, Peterson has pledged a $5,000 donation for every touchdown he scores this season, and Kutcher and Moore have said that they will match that. There are other players that have pledged various amounts based on touchdowns as well, including Cincinnati Bengals' tight end Jermaine Gresham, Philadelphia Eagles' wide recevier DeSean Jackson, Indianapolis Colts' tight end Dallas Clark, and Chicago Bears' wide receiver Roy Williams.
(If Williams was serious about helping the cause, he'd donate money for every dropped pass rather than every touchdown reception, wouldn't he?)
In addition, Oakland Raiders' safety Michael Huff has pledged a donation for every interception, and former WBC Welterweight champion Victor Ortiz will donate money for every touchdown Peterson scores as well. On top of that, a couple of corporate sponsors have gotten on board. Texas Tea has agreed to match Peterson's $5,000 per touchdown donation, as well as donate $5 from every case of tea purchased from their website (which is conveniently linked there for you), and Global Mojo, an app that allows you to raise money for charitable causes, has pledged $1,000 for every time AP finds the end zone.
So, we know that between Adrian Peterson, Ashton Kutcher, and Demi Moore, as well as their corporate sponsors, Football For Good is already up at least. . .let's see here. . .carry the two, find the square of the hypotenuse, make a correction for wind. . .$32,000! Hopefully that number will increase by a huge factor as this season progresses.
If you would like to donate to Football For Good, you can text ADRIAN to 20222 to give them $10.
