Vikings And Chargers Both Relatively Healthy Going Into Opener

The Minnesota Vikings and San Diego Chargers released their Friday injury reports today. . .you know, with it being Friday and everything.

Yes, in the immortal words of latter-day American prophet Larry the Cable Guy. . .Lord, I apologize.

So, in any case, here are the injury reports for both teams. . .after the jump.

We'll start with Minnesota, with them being the road team and all. Their injury report is slightly longer than San Diego's, but there isn't a whole lot to be worried about here.

Minnesota Vikings Injuries

Probable

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Donovan McNabb wrist 09/09/2011
Visanthe Shiancoe hamstring 09/09/2011
Chris Cook hamstring 09/09/2011

Questionable

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Asher Allen foot 09/09/2011

Out (IR / Out / Suspended / Physically unvailable)

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Jasper Brinkley hip 09/03/2011

Allen is the only person on this list that's in any real danger of missing Sunday's game, and that's not what we'd call a terribly huge loss. If he doesn't play, I would assume that Marcus Sherels would hold down the dime spot, with Antoine Winfield, Cedric Griffin, and Chris Cook taking the top three spots, respectively.

Phil Loadholt and Letroy Guion both also missed practice on Friday, but for reasons that are not injury related. Expect to see both of them on the field on Sunday as well.

Now, the injury report for the homestanding San Diego Chargers.

San Diego Chargers Injuries

Probable

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Antonio Gates foot 09/07/2011
Marcus McNeill knee 09/07/2011
Andrew Gachkar other-excused 09/09/2011

Questionable

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Patrick Crayton ankle 09/09/2011
Vincent Brown other-excused 09/09/2011
Jonas Mouton shoulder 09/09/2011

Out (IR / Out / Suspended / Physically unvailable)

Player Injury Type Injury Date
Nick Polk hand 09/03/2011

All three players that the Chargers have listed as "questionable" did not participate in Friday's practice. None of them would be a huge loss for San Diego, as far as I can see. . .the Chargers are pretty deep at receiver, and Mouton is a rookie that isn't expected to contribute a whole heck of a lot during his first season anyway.

Yes, both the Vikings and Chargers are pretty healthy going into the first game of the 2011 season. Hopefully the Vikings will be able to stay that way for the majority of the year. Not to say I hope that the Chargers won't or anything like that. . .I hope that they do.
